The workshops drawing and filming are in full swing. At Ateliers'89 even at night there’s a boost of energy.
Video teacher Ryan Oduber and drawing teacher Moritz Ebinger, are satisfied with the attendance of their workshops; both have about 15 participants in classrooms.
The participants of the workshop "BACK TO BLACK" is mainly attended by youngsters. The concepts of the video pieces are ready, the storyboards sketched. With enthusiasm they now commence the real film work. Ryan patiently explains to the participants what they have to pay attention to during the recordings.
At his own initiative Gideon Lewis, who attends art classes with Elvis Lopez during daytime, is making a documentary about the workshop. He is filming the participants while they’re at work and interviews them afterwards.

The workshop of Moritz is more diverse regarding the age of the participants. From youngster to adult, everyone participates intensively in the lessons. With Moritz’ unorthodox way of teaching, he challenges the participants to let go of all their barriers.
After working with individual work up until now, the participants now work on a communal drawing. The human model on whose outlines they are drawing lies on a big piece of cardboard in the middle of the classroom during drawing sessions.
The drawing is being constructed from fragments of drawings from all the participants who draw around the human model. Every now and then the participants take on another part of the drawing, after which they draw further on a colleagues drawing. The result is a dynamic work that can be viewed from different angles.
Next week the group is starting to work on a letter drawing. A letter written with drawings, without text.
The video’s and drawings will be on show as of Sunday October 2nd. There will once again be a grand opening of the exposition of the artworks.

Until that time the participants work ahead steadily,……
