Thirteen bartenders from the Westin Resort & Casino, Aruba competed in a friendly in-house competition sponsored by Bacardi.
The bartenders were tasked with creating an original rum cocktail. It was anything goes as far as creativity, with just one stipulation that all drinks should be mixed “on the rocks.”
In addition to cash prizes (generously donated by Bacardi) and gift certificates, the winning bartender’s drink will live on in Westin mixology infamy, being added to the resort’s cocktail menu.
A six-judge panel (three from Westin management and three from Bacardi) sipped, slurped, and savored the drinks, judging them on presentation, taste, ingredient variety, and drink name.
After much deliberation, the panel awarded top prize to JawriPaniagua for his Red Diamond cocktail with Bacardi Limon, Blue Curacao, Banana, and pineapple juice. Honorable mentions include second place finisher Edgar Geerman and third place bartender Cornelio Tagorda.

- We have different people to rate the bartenders on presentation, taste, ingredients, name of the drink etc. there will be two persons of Bacardi and 3 persons from Westin
- The winning drink will be used for our new cocktail menu
