Renaissance Festival Plaza – A group of visitors from the USA staying at the Renaissance Aruba Resort organized an early morning 5-K fun run/walk for charity awarding the local Casa Cuna Children’s home with a generous donation.
The unusual gesture by a group of sales executives, of Charles River Laboratories, on the island of Aruba for their annual Sales Meeting, 2007, was very warmly received by the surprised representative of Casa Cuna Children’s home, Bernadette Booi, who praised the initiative and promised to put the funds to good use.
The group’s spokesperson Tom Claggett reports that members gave generously before and after the most enjoyable 5-K run/walk which unfolded at the Wilhelmina Park and along the boulevard.
John Booi who escorted his wife to the Renaissance Festival Plaza – he is legally blind for the past 17 years - took out his harmonica and rewarded the visitors with the bit of local music, as a token of heartfelt gratitude. It was a special moment, as the beautiful music drifted overheads at sunset.
