Three Commemorative stamp series available at Aruba Post office

PostAruba has issued three special commemorative stamps for 2012, which are now available at the Philately Desk at their main branch in Oranjestad, as well as their branch office in the Palm Beach Plaza shopping mall.

The first issue of the year came out on January 19, titled “Eagles,” with original art by noted Aruban artist Elvis Tromp, value: 10 Aruban florins ($5.70). The second issue was on February 21 from the Aruban Fauna series featuring Goats, by Edith van der Waal, value: 4 Aruban florins ($2.20) The final ensemble was issued on April 5, a collection by artist Rudberth Wolffe, which is a tribute to the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games to take place in London, England. They have a value of 5 Aruban florins ($2.75) each and are only available in a set of 4.

The third issue will be part of the Marine Series; this is a set of stamps featuring the work of Angiolina Henriquez, who is also head of the Aruba Marine Mammal Foundation. Her special issue “Whales,” has a value of 10 Aruban florins. ($5.70.) First day issue ensembles also include a coordinated envelope and cancellation stamp.

PostAruba still has a number of the striking stamps created by island artists from the past few years; they are also offered in money saving packets for collectors.
