The Westin Resort, Aruba hosts Shoco 2010 awards banquet

PALM BEACH-On Friday, October 15, The Shoco Awards of Excellence banquet was held in the Grand Palm Beach Ballroom at the Westin Resort, Aruba.

The Shoco Awards of Excellence program is the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association’s (AHATA) official recognition program focusing on excellence in service, hospitality, and outstanding contribution to Aruba’s tourism industry. The award program acknowledges individual accomplishments that have led to far-reaching results.

Nominees are submitted by members of AHATA (in Resort and Allied categories) and a months-long selection process evaluates each nominee’s contributions by an independent panel of judges.

Congratulations to the following winners: Employee of the Year—Rudolfo Farro of the Marriott Resort; Allied Employee of the Year— Iris Veen of DePalm Tours; Supervisor of the Year—Lino Van der Biezen of the Westin Resort (who was actually working the event that evening and took a quick break to jump on stage and receive his award!); Allied Supervisor of the Year—Martin Dijkhoff of DePalm Tours; Manager of the Year—Maikel Ras of the Radisson Resort; Allied Manager of the Year-- Christopher Harness of Tiara Air; Young Professional of the Year—Rina Maduro-Geerman of La Cabana Resort; Lifetime Achievement—Ramiro Rafael of The Westin Resort and Edsel Davelaar of Occidental Resort; Shoco Cares (in partnership with signature sponsor Digicel) recognition went to Francis Groeneveldt of the Marriott’s Surf Club.

The Westin Resort Aruba was thrilled to host the event, and very proud that two associates received Shoco awards.
