The Old Cunucu House Restaurant, located in a typical Aruban home of approximately hundred years old, started hosting a weekly dinner show. During the three course dinner show entertainer Fred de Jong sings a selection of the best romantic songs of Frank Sinatra. The dinner show is weekly hosted on Thursday’s from 7.30 till 10 pm and features songs like: “Fly Me To The Moon”, “My Way”, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”, “New York – New York”, “The Lady Is A Tramp” and many more.
VisitAruba.com organized an interview with Entertainer Fred de Jong and The Old Cunucu House Restaurant owner Mireila Lopez to learn more about their Frank Sinatra Dinner Show.
VA: How did the idea arise to host the Frank Sinatra Dinner Show?
ML: The Old Cunucu House Restaurant has a separate conference room, where events can be hosted like: parties, birthdays, weddings and ceremonies etc. and we were already thinking about hosting recurring events in this room when Fred approached us.
FdJ: I always loved music and I used to listen, dance, watch and play music. I started to sing songs from Frank Sinatra, because a lot of those songs have beautiful romantic lyrics, wonderful compositions and arrangements. Besides that my voice comes very close to Frank Sinatra’s type of voice. After many years of practicing I decided to start an Aruba Sinatra Dinner Show and I was looking for a facility.
ML: So when Fred asked me if they were interested in hosting the show, we felt that both parties fitted perfectly together and decided to develop a nice package for the show and start performing and promoting it.
VA: Where and when will the dinner show take place?
ML: The Dinners Shows are taking place weekly on Thursdays from 7:30 pm till 10:00 pm
VA: What is included in the dinner show package?
ML: Our Aruba Sinatra Dinner Special includes: an appetizer, entrée, dessert and a bottle of wine per couple, for only $40 per person. (Show Ticket + Dinner Special = $55.00) Guests can also choose to pay $15 per person for the Dinner Show ticket and decide to order food and drinks from our a la carte menu.
VA: Could you please give us a sneak preview of the menu?
ML: Every week we have a different 'surprise' 3 course menu including some of our most popular dishes like Keeshi Yena, Catch of the day, Seafood Palm Beach, Arupargo, Bacalau, Cabrito, and Carni Stoba.
VA: What kind of experience will people enjoy at the show?
FdJ: Instead of us explaining what guest can experience during the show we would like to share some of the experiences of guest that already visited our Frank Sinatra Dinner Show.
