The beloved tradition of welcoming Sinterklaas and his Zwarte Pieten to Aruba was joyfully observed by thousands of island parents and children yesterday morning. The venerated figure, regal in his red and white robes, was personally greeted at the Aruba Port by Minister of Economic & Social Affairs and Culture, Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar, who was just as thrilled as all the youngsters to again escort Sinterklaas to shore.
Sinterklaas and his crew of merry Moorish pranksters will be here until his feast day of December 6, bringing toys and fun for all good little boys and girls.
Minister Hooyboer-Winklaar expressed that she hopes that each and every Aruban child’s name is in the book of Sinterklaas so they can all receive gifts.
