Taste of Belgium is the name of a soon to open, new restaurant in the Palm Beach Plaza Mall. The large restaurant promises to be innovative, following in the footsteps of its sister restaurants CILO City Lounge in the Renaissance Marketplace and Papillon in The Village: fresh, vibrant and exciting. A great amount of creative architectural design has gone into the drawings: the architect has had to work overtime to come up with the interior which evokes memories of favorite holidays in the glory days of Belgium’s North Sea Rivièra.

The focus of the new restaurant in Palm Beach will be on sinfully good food in the inimitable Belgian style, with the friendly, fast service of knowledgeable waiters, an extensive wine list with wines by the glass, delicious premium drinks and cups of coffee with a tiny glass of liqueur and whipped cream. Of course the desserts are irresistible; Belgians are well-known for their sweet tooth. The famous gastronomic excellence of Belgium will descend on the new, spacious location at Palm Beach Plaza on Aruba.

If you would like to get an idea about what Taste of Belgium will look like: just imagine an inviting lounge area with a reading corner, where one can read local and international papers and magazines. A sizeable bar is ready to service the cool, air-conditioned interior as well as the shaded terrace, where the cooling breeze reigns. In some incomprehensible way the concept allows for a cozy atmosphere while quite a lot of guests can enjoy themselves. A terrific sound system with a variety of great music will be installed, but one can also expect outstanding musicians playing live. Fun events will attract an eclectic crowd that is eager to experience Taste of Belgium’s happenings.

The off-white wooden walls with signature black-and-white tiles mingling with the wooden floor surrounding the bar area will be the backdrop for the easy couches and the convenient reading table. The sepia, blown-up photographs of historic prints that line the walls will show that time has not stood still: we have come a long way since then.

The restaurant is easy to reach, has ample parking spaces and a bus stop as well as a taxi stand in the front; it will be open from 7 am until 1 am. A special lunch menu is geared towards the business community of Aruba: Taste of Belgium is close by – just 6 minutes from Ling & Sons Supermarket – via the Sasakiweg. Fast service will see to it that everyone will be back at their desks with a full belly with plenty of time to spare, but there is also the possibility to enjoy a drawn-out business lunch in semi-privacy or a fun lunch with friends, of course. International favorites will be vying for attention with the daily lunch and dinner specials and favorite Belgian dishes will again be gracing the menu. Weekly special events are going to include coffee-, beer- and wine tastings. A Sunday high tea and lots of other events are still in the pipeline.

The focus of Taste of Belgium lies on the traditional, time-honored art of enjoyment, which Belgians are famous for. These people know how to spend their leisure time, savoring delicacies and specialty beers, sipping impressive wines, tasting the best ingredients hidden in outstanding recipes and splurging on desserts. This art form has almost died out in the rest of the world, but in Belgium it is still going strong. And now Belgium is coming to Aruba once again.
