OLA Cruises’ Ola Esmeralda, a 450 passenger vessel previously owned by Fred Olsen Cruises and operated by the same company under the name The Black Prince, will make its first call to Aruba on August 23, 2011.
The classic vessel, which cruised in Southampton until 2009 was purchased by SAVECA (Servicios Acuaticos de Venezuela C.A.) and has been used mainly as a cruise ship operating in Venezuelan waters until recently. During a meeting held with Mr. John Seraus-Chief Nautical Division of APA and Mrs. Tamara Waldron Cruise Marketing & Communications Manager, Mr. Marino Fois C. President of Servicios Acuaticos de Venezuela announced that a total of (four) 4 calls will be made to Aruba – August 23, December 24, December 28 and April 1, 2012.
Maduro & Sons is the official ship agent on-island and Fofoti Tours & Transfers will be the tour operator handling all day and night excursions. If all goes well OLA would like to continue offering monthly cruise services to Aruba in 2012. The ship is compliant with SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) 2010 requirements.
