Aruba Airport Authority is pleased to announce Delta service increase nonstop daily service between New York (JFK) and Aruba beginning December 15, 2012.
Delta has been servicing the Aruba market for over 10 years, and has shown a strong partnership and commitment to Aruba. After American Airlines announced cancellation of JFK route last November 2011, the JFK-Aruba route was faced with an imminent shortage of capacity, that could only partly be filled by JetBlue.
Additional to the JFK services, Delta offers daily flights from Atlanta and seasonal services from La Guardia.
The new flight will operate daily with a B737-800 aircraft configuration of 160 seats between JFK and Aruba, starting on December 15, 2012. The daily flights are operated from JFK at 8.10 a.m and arrive in Aruba at 2:12 p.m. – the return flights leave Aruba at 3:15 p.m and arrive in JFK at 7:36 p.m.
The total amount of Winter 2012-2013 seats is with that addition 62,988 for all carriers JFK-Aruba combined showing an increase of 27.2% compared to winter 2011-2012.
Delta continues New York growth with expanded Carib-bean services. Delta is optimizing its schedule at JFK to facilitate connections to international flights. JFK is a major global gateway for Delta, which operates nonstop to more than 45 international destinations from the airport.
At JFK, Delta, in cooperation with Schiphol Group and the Port Authority, is currently under way on a $1.2 billion program to enhance and expand Terminal 4, adding nine gates. Terminal 4 is managed by Schiphol Group and Schiphol also engineers and realizes the $ 1.2 billion expansion. The enlarged Terminal 4 will open in Spring 2013.
“We are extremely pleased with the service expansion, daily flights out of JFK from Delta” said Peter Steinmetz, CEO of AAA N.V.. “It clearly illustrates that were an existing market is underserved market forces move to reach a new equilibrium between supply and demand. Personally, I am also thrilled by expanded services with JFK Terminal 4, that is managed by my colleagues of Schiphol Group. It gives a special flavor to this excellent news.”
