Palm Beach -- The Occidental Grand opened a few days ago quietly. The resurrection of the Occidental, former Allegro, coincided with the closing for renovations of the Aruba Grand. Aruba’s hotels are reinvesting themselves big-time, and what we have seen so far of the Occidental is very impressive.
The lobby is Spanish inspired, black, white and brown. It features a charming bar and cozy sitting areas. Everything from floor tiles to comfy, both traditional and contemporary furnishings looks very inviting. Best of all in the shop gallery, a new store Coconut Trading Company just opened, baby sister to famed Marriott Ocean Club’s Coconut Trading Company. The diminutive, cute-cute boutique is gorgeous with black & white floor tiles, and artistic black & white furniture with chocolate accents.
Coconut Trading Company offers a unique variety of gifts including home décor and accessories and handcrafted jewelry. It is a feast to the eye and it remains open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
