Moulin Rouge at Occidental Grand Aruba creates Bohemian Paris in Aruba

Palm Beach -- The colorful world of Paris in the 19th century is beautifully recreated each Monday night at the Occidental Grand Aruba when the talented entertainment crew takes on Moulin Rouge.
The star of the show, the Sparkling Diamond, a famed Parisian entertainer called Satine, sings, dances and dies of tuberculosis at the end.

In the process of living her young life to the fullest the audience is treated to a love affair between a struggling, long-haired, penniless poet and the Can Can dancing cocotte.
The show at the Occidental Grand Aruba is based on the soundtrack of the famed Hollywood production. No, there is no live singing. What you hear is Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor from the hit movie but the corset clad Belle Époque dancers are spectacular – especially the choreographer, from Bulgaria Violeta and her lead dancer Eduardo, from Venezuela.

The cast of supporting characters is very amusing. You will find the rigid, dry English Duke, and the greedy impresario Zidler, mixed comically with the Bohos, the gang of Bohemians surrounding the cabaret, in the giant Montmartre music hall, also nicknamed the Palace of Women.
The costumes are dizzying especially in Hindi Sad Diamonds, which is a spoof where Hindu chants meet Disco.

Also worth mentioning Lady Marmalade’s production number, at the end of the show.
Moulin Rouge at the Occidental Grand Aruba is fun, presenting jazzy remixes of famed songs such as Diamonds are the Girl’s Best Friends, the Materials Girl, Like a Virgin, Rhythm of the Night and Roxanne, performed by an international crew from Cuba, Colombia, Canada and Aruba, emceed by Omar Chavez, from Costa Rica, the fun club director who works very to bring it all together.
