During the past “Annual Tourism Conference Aruba” (ATCA), executives of the Aruba Tourism Authority received exciting news from Canada. Susan Oland, Director of Sunwing Airlines Sales department, announced that Sunwing – Signature Vacations will be adding a direct fight from Montreal, Canada to Aruba as of winter 2012-2013.
According to ATA CEO, Ronella Tjin Ashoe-Croes, this decision from Sunwing comes as a result of Aruba’s efforts and hard work to increase our airlift capacity and to increase the Canadian market.

The aircraft to be commissioned for these flights will be a 737-800 with a seating capacity of 189 passengers. They will be flying throughout the entire year, both in the Winter and Summer seasons.

Sunwing Airlines started flying from Toronto in Novbember 2011 with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.

With these flights Aruba will be receiving as many as 5 flights from Canada in the upcoming Winter (2012-2013) season, serviced by Sunwing, Air Canada, and Westjet which is also commencing flights to Aruba in May from Toronto.

Aruba is very pleased about this accomplishment. It only reinforces our efforts to diversify the Canadian market.  Montreal presents the possibility for attracting a different type of client from Canada, different from those coming from Toronto. These visitors appear to have a pattern of high spending during their vacation stay.
Last year the Canadian market grew by 7.7%, which is indicative of the growth potential, according to ATA’s CEO. ATA and the AHATA and Aruba are obviously lavishing in this very encouraging news.
