It’s carnival time in Aruba and Marriott like no other knows how to celebrate carnival. On February 15, 2012 the Marriott organized a Queen election. From the various departments at the three Aruba Marriott properties ten participants signed up to compete for Marriott Carnival Queen. In addition 2 male duos entered for the Prins y Pancho title.
The ten ladies who shined for the evening were: Heissi Dugarte (Market Place), Dessline Loefstop (Activities MVC), Bianela Santana (Housekeeping ASC), Aixa Albertus (Housekeeping ASC), Vicky Benavides (Recreation MVC), Leidy Rojas (Captains Galey/Pavillion), Jasmin Henriquez ( Engineering ASC), Geraldine Geerman (AYS), Yohanna Correa (FD ASC) and Christy-ann Christiaans (Accounting). The Prins and Pancho contestants were Ryan Martijn & Claudio Peña (LPO MVC) and Meldrick Solognier (Activities MVC) & Mike Rodriguez (FO AOC).
All participants were judged on their general performance: a speech focused on hospitality and a 10 minute show to wow the audience. Members of the jury Rona Coster, Kevin van Ommeren, Pierre Angely Wever and President Rachelle Lacle graded the participants on articulation and voice intonation, body language, facial expression, costume, creativity and choreography of the show.
Beautiful carnival costumes, spectacular shows and a great ambiente were the ingredients of the evening.
The title of Marriott Carnival Queen went to Geraldine Geerman of At Your Service. She provided a great speech about hospitality and her show was related to her job and the learning principles of Marriott. The first runner up title went to Dessline Loefstop of Activities MVC. Meldrick Solognier (Activities MVC) & Mike Rodriguez (FO AOC) were crowned Prins & Pancho of Marriott with their funny show dancing on the tunes of “I am sexy and I know it”. The event was presented by Johnny Kock and live entertainment provided by local band Dushi Band.
The winners received a cash prize, breakfast for two at La Vista, a watch and movie tickets. MASHA PABIEN to all winners and a big Thank You to the participants and the project team Shuraima Henriquez and Hely Regales.
