Teachers and students of Reina Beatrix School in collaboration with Ling & Sons IGA Supercenter showed their respect on Earth Day by standing still for a moment to reflect on our natural environment especially on our island's natural resources.
Each of the 540 students of this school had an important assignment: to send a message to the community of Aruba to preserve and care for our natural environment. Ling & Sons IGA Supercenter was proud to have provided the channel for these children's assignment to be a success by providing them with paper bags where they would draw or write their message, and then deliver it to the community of Aruba. The message on the bags has focused on encouraging people to think green and minimize the use of plastic bags.
On Earth Day the students and teachers of Reina Beatrix School delivered the paper bags back to Ling & Sons IGA Supercenter with their messages on them. During that day the bags were handed out to the clients with the goal of spreading the word to the community about minimizing the use of plastic bags. This project was part of a wider global initiative by schools and supermarkets, more information can be found on www.earthdaybags.org.
