Life in Aruba just became much sweeter...

Oranjestad. -- Life in Aruba just became much sweeter with the opening of A Taste of Belgium in the Renaissance Mall. The latest edition to the heart of Oranjestad is the love-child of a trio of famous, local, Belgian-born personalities: Peter Balliere, Luc van Eetvelde and Werner Vennen, the original creators of Le Dome restaurant.

Peter, Luc and Werner started making Belgian chocolate in 2003, shortly before they sold their restaurant. They marketed their bonbons by word of mouth. The demand grew and the decision to open a store in town was made. When a fantastic location became available at the Renaissance Mall, the trio did not hesitate.

Werner who is in charge of the hand-dipped chocolate creations stocked the new A Taste of Belgium with an astounding variety of goodies.

Luc oversaw the spectacular design. The black granite store front and carpentry were all custom-made in Aruba.

Peter, who is a marketing master, will be in charge of making Belgian chocolate part of our daily diet. Werner jokes he lost eight pounds in the process of opening and if that is true that Belgian chocolate is slimming, A Taste of Belgium should expect a stampede of clients.

The store offers the most beautiful boxes and unusual containers that can be filled with a wonderful assortment of Dark, White and Milk Chocolates, Truffles, Bonbons, liqueur cups brimming with Kirsh or Cognac or filled with nuts from Cashews to Hazelnut and exotic fruits including Cherry and Pineapple besides everything coco, Coconut Bars and Coconut Logs just to name a few. The gorgeous glowing glass showcases are filled with Toffee, Caramel, Praline, Fondant and Ganache displayed on silver trays ready to be packaged as extraordinary gifts.

Custom made containers and treasure chests are guaranteed to please family, friends, and business clients who receive them. Boxes filled with Belgian cookies and biscuits - thin dipped in chocolate, and a chocolate fountain, made especially for A Taste of Belgium, make the store a veritable attraction in the mall.

There is something for everyone at A Taste of Belgium, including sugar free options, marzipan mice, cows and fruit, as well as bottles of Elixir D’Anvers, a Belgian specialty which combines excellently with chocolates and is made of 39 different herbs.

"We use only the finest ingredients to make our chocolate," says Werner, and if you’d like to learn more about it check the website www.tasteofbelgium-aruba.be or E- mail info@tasteofbelgium-aruba.be
