Sunday evening, The Alhambra Convention Center hosted the 2013 Miss Aruba Universe Pageant from Star Promotions. Five contestants competed for the honor of representing the island at the annual Miss Universe Pageant.

Nabhilach De Palm, a former contender, and Mark Benson Denz were moderators for the glittering glamorous event. The young ladies competed at all levels, and various sponsors, such as L’Oreal, also provided prizes for individual categories.

Aruba’s new Miss Aruba, Larissa Leeuwe, was crowned by the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Otmar Oduber. Her taking the title was not a great surprise, as she collected an armful of trophies for Miss Bikini, Best Smile, Best Look by L’Oreal and Best Gown before being named the winner of the pageant. Her sponsors were The Stars by Georgie.

First runner up is Mishelle Motta, candidate from Me and My Sis. She was also named Most Photogenic and won for Best Hair and Most Creative Make Up. She also won the Miss Popular vote through an online poll via SETAR N.V., Aruba’s telecommunications company, and Facebook. She will represent Aruba at the Miss World competition coming up in Indonesia.

Other contestants were Paola de L’Isle from Jennive Hi Fashion, who was named Most Eloquent by a panel of journalists. Patrisia Koolman, sponsored by Dilailah Beauty Salon, was named Miss Congeniality. Ghislain Van Der Linden, from Hair Factory, rounded out the roster.
