San Nicolas – Carnival’s official opening parade in San Nicolas unfolded from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. in the morning, taking off from the Sports Park and circulating the entire town, waking residents up in honor of Carnival 2009’s last weekend of festivities.
Thousands of revelers most of them in pajamas, sporting curlers, carrying chamber pots, wrapped in robes, shuffling in slippers and prancing in a variety of undergarments crowded the street dancing behind hi-tec music trailers to the repertory of the past and present Carnival favorites. Le Groove, Impak, Monster and Oreo delivered hours of nonstop music each in their individual soca style, creating a most memorable, and spontaneous night to remember.
Our camera captured some of the improvised costumes and much of the ambiance, in San Nicolas, the cradle of Carnival during the Jouvert Morning Pajama Parade. Please visit our Gallery for more pictures of Jouvert Morning.
