Palm Beach – The IFA newsletter reports that on Saturday, October 6th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. there will be a dog wash at the Marriott Aruba Resort. Dog owners are asked to bring their muddy four-legged friends to be washed in the parking lot just outside of the grand ball ballroom. The grooming is free of charge but donations are accepted.
That evening from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. a carnival will take place at the Lazy River at the Marriott Surf Club. This is a fun time for the whole family with games, food, drinks, and live music! Games include a Cake Walk, Ring Toss, Tic Tac Toe, the Human Fruit Machine (a.k.a. the human slot machine), and more! At 8:00 p.m. Aruba's first ever Rubber Ducky Race will take place. Duckies are for sale at $5 each and can be purchased at the event or in advance through the Stellaris Casino or Melissa Stedeford and Mashelle Zeolla of IFA. There is over $14,000 in prizes so far including gift certificates to restaurants and stores, gym memberships, tennis lessons, spa packages, jewelry, Marriott stays around the world, a 42” flat screen plasma TV, an above ground spa from Willy's Pools and much more!!!
Proceeds all go to Animal Rights Aruba and aid in their effort to spade/neuter dogs and cats thus reducing the number of strays and unkempt animals. Over Afl 80,000 was raised in the first two black tie events allowing for ARA to spade/neuter over 1,300 dogs and cats to date!
Good news: Divi Resorts sponsored a week stay at Divi Golf and Beach Resort in a one bedroom suite with 4 games of 9 hole golf and a dinner for 2 at Windows on Aruba, worth over $3500, becoming a gold sponsor. Divi’s Alex Nieuwmeyer, a dog lover is also purchasing 150 ducks at $750, and participating in the race.
