Earth Day is a globally recognized day to raise awareness around environmental sustainability. The first Earth Day was organized in the US in 1970, than became global in 1990, as the need for environmental awareness around the world continued to grow. Earth Day is now an occasion to energize ourselves to be part of the solution on the path towards environmental sustainability.
The Hyatt Regency Aruba is organizing this “Hyatt Thrive” event in cooperation with Fundacion Gabriel Flores. This foundation is known for creating various environmental awareness and cultural school projects. They will also use the funds raised with this walk for such projects.“Hyatt Thrive” is Hyatt’s global effort to help make the communities in which they operate places that their associates are proud to work, their guests want to visit, their neighbors want to live and hotel owners want to invest. Hyatt Thrive focuses on four areas that they believe are essential to a thriving community; Environmental Sustainability – Hyatt Earth, Education & Personal Advancement, Economic Development & Investment and Health & Wellness. In regards to Environmental Sustainability they are taking focused, aggressive steps to reduce resource consumption, waste and emissions at their hotels – and protecting the natural environment in our local communities. Environmental sustainability is a journey and not a short-term
endeavor. Achieving measurable results requires a conscious effort and a healthy mix of focus, innovation, commitment and optimism, by all parties involved.
