PALM BEACH, ARUBA (JULY 1, 2008) – The Aruba Marriott is proud to announce the promotion of Flor van der Vaart as the new General Manager of the wonderful 513 room St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort located in the British West Indies. Flor will begin his new duties in St. Kitts on July 6, 2008.
Flor began his career with Marriott in 2004 as the Resident Manager of the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, and was promoted to his current role as General Manager of Marriott’s Aruba Ocean and Surf Club in 2005. During his tenure the build-out of the Surf Club villas was completed, and together with the Ocean Club, these two properties represent a significant portion of the Marriott Vacation Club Caribbean portfolio. Flor’s leadership has been instrumental in successfully guiding this operation.
He has also been active in local charitable organizations on the island, including a Board position on the Sports for Life Foundation, and more recently the Aruba Hotel and Security Foundation.
During a farewell reception held on Monday June 30 in Marriott’s Grand Ballroom associates and managers of all three Marriott properties said farewell to Flor. Traditionally some memories from the past were shared, Flor was thanked and praised for his leadership and as a souvenir he received a picture of the resort with greetings and best wishes from his Aruba colleagues. We wish Flor, his wife Ilia and two daughters Nikki and Kaela all the best in St Kitts.
