Current General Manager Of Hyatt Regency Aruba, Ms. Susan Santiago, Named Vice President Of Food And Beverage Of Hyatt Hotels North America

September 8, 2010 (Palm Beach, Aruba) - Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino is extremely proud and excited to announce that Ms. Susan Santiago has been promoted to Vice President of Food and Beverage for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, North America.

Earlier this year Ms. Santiago earned the prestigious General Manager of the Year Award in the Large Hotel Category from Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. A seasoned veteran of luxury hospitality and almost 20 year member of the Hyatt family, Santiago brought home the honor having spent two years guiding the newly renovated resort to the pinnacle of hospitality excellence.

Hyatt’s General Manager of the Year Award recognizes the best of the best in management of the hotel group’s more than 115 hotels and resorts across the United States and Caribbean.

The award is based on several criteria: overall achievement in the financial success of the property; outstanding guest service experience; and creation of a positive work environment as evidenced by employee operations surveys. A display of leadership qualities valued by Hyatt, including creativity, initiative, high-energy business acumen, positive owner relations and communication skills, is also of consideration.

Santiago achieved all the fore mentioned criteria and went above and beyond the regular qualifications, which makes her the ideal candidate for Vice President of Food and Beverage for Hyatt Corporation.

Under her guidance and leadership the resort was the first high rise resort on Palm Beach Aruba to achieve the Silver Green Globe Certification status. This generated excitement and pride for the resort associates and guests, while elevating the resorts standing in the community. In addition, it highlights her commitment to Hyatt Corporation’s green team policies and the islands sustainability.

The “EMBRACE” project was born out of Santiago’s sheer desire to give back to the community while offering guests the opportunity to partake in a meaningful and memorable experience.

This volunteer initiative inspires resort associates and guests, to assist in the revitalization of Aruba’s most cherished landmarks. These landmarks are an integral part of providing the islands visitors with an “Authentic Island” experience, which is a main focus of Santiago.

She is a dedicated AHATA board member and has volunteered to be on the energy committee, as well as representing the island as a board member of the Caribbean Hotel Association.

Under her leadership many benefit enhancements have been implemented for Hyatt Aruba associates, such as a pension plan, and much more. Susan is highly admired within the Hyatt Corporation, and we are honored and proud to welcome her back to the corporate office as Vice President of Food and Beverage,” said Mr. Carlos Cabrera, Senior Vice President of Field Operations, Hyatt Resorts. “With polished management skills and an eye for detail, Susan is the perfect choice to oversee all North America Food and Beverage operations.

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino wishes Ms. Susan Santiago much success in her future endeavors and would like to sincerely thank her for her guidance and leadership. The Hyatt Aruba family will forever welcome her back home to our “One Happy Island”.
