Local fashion designer Ronchi de Cuba's "Celebration of People" in its third edition unfolded Sunday night at the Tropicana Showroom. It showed again that the designer is not just about looks and styles. Ronchi’s philosophy shone through as he sent models sizes 1 to 24 down the runway all looking gorgeous, all equally made up and dressed stylishly. In Ronchi’s book, beautiful comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.
The fashion show also marked the return of big hair. Local beauties and runway stars Boyoura and Norisa showed big heads, so did Casia Altamar with a curly giant mop. Ronchi reports Casia is going to the US this Spring to work for a modeling agency. This girl along with super-model Jennifer Guzman should have been discovered already and working in Paris, they are great. Boyoura and Norisa are also so confident and a pleasure to look at working the runway. I understand they are both employed at Trash by Ronchi now, the fashion store in town.
The show also marked the return of veteran Shannon Lopez. The red long hair is now burgundy, and Shannon slimmed down after having a baby a few years ago. Her performance was excellent, reminiscent of her days as a candidate for Carnival Queen when Ronchi put a red-hot circus on stage at the stadium in Shannon’s honor.
Among other fashion show standouts the beautiful Nabila De Palm.
In general pink is hot, for cheeks, lips, eyelids and in clothes. Ronchi’s first round of fashions concentrated on hot pink, with black, with brown with everything. I loved all high heeled shoes; straps are very fashionable especially those tied around the ankle.
Being an excellent choreographer Ronchi presented I HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING YOU....with JENNIFER GUZMAN.... and HOT STUFF....with MIMI MIRJAH, she is Ronchi's favorite Plus Model. Mimi is also his candidate for Mrs. Carnival and you should expect great fun, from her, she is spunky and fresh and outrageous . . ..
She opened the Celebration of People with IT'S RAINING MEN . . . together with plus models ELIZETTE WERNET . . . TATIANA TROMP. CEDRIC FRANS and SANDRA RIOS, put in an extra sexy appearance, in body shirts. Ronchi also choreographed I AM WHAT I AM . . . with KIMBERLY WILSON, and INTUITION . . . by an absolute 10, model JERIANNE TIEL.
Male models Patrick Dake and Gregory Nasi, wrapped up event with their charismatic presence. The evening also served to introduce heartthrob, singer Edjen Semeler to the program; he performed one of his current hit songs with the models for the finale.
