Eagle Beach, Aruba October 2010 - Desislava Koleva from Tarnovo, Bulgaria, and Cedric Evans from Fort Worth, Texas USA, recently held a beautiful beach wedding on Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort’s ‘Dream Beach of the World’. Twenty seven guests travelled to Aruba to witness the couple exchange their wedding vows. To conform to an authentic Bulgarian tradition, the bride’s family brought water and flower blossoms from Bulgaria to incorporate into the celebration. During the ceremony, the bride knocked over a copper cauldron containing water and flower blossoms just before she walked down the aisle, spilling the bucket of water for good luck.
Cedric is an attorney, and Desislava (Desi for short) works in marketing. Desi was on a business trip in Austin, Texas, where, shortly before she was scheduled to return to Bulgaria, she met Cedric. Several months later, Cedric left sunny Texas to pursue Desi in snowy Bulgaria to celebrate her birthday. When Desi was offered relocation to Texas, she couldn’t say no to the opportunity of being with Cedric. “We’ve been together ever since,” shared the couple.
Cedric proposed to Desi during a trip to Belgium on a lover’s bridge near their inn. Wedding plans ensued, and while looking for a destination, the couple searched for a tropical destination associated with Europe where English was spoken predominantly. Cedric then remembered his trip to Aruba in 1999.
"We looked online and, after reading all the great reviews of Bucuti, we knew we had found the right place,” explained Desi, the happy bride. “Aruba really was a perfect choice for our wedding. Our families and friends came from various parts in the U.S. and Europe, and Aruba served as a beautiful and relaxing platform for everyone to share this special day with us.” Photography by Victor Winklaar
