Aruba enjoyed a weekend of live wrestling action this past weekend for the debut during the debut of the Caribbean Wrestling Bash “The Legends Tour.” Aptly named, legendary pros battled it on in the arena at the Joe Laveist Ballpark in San Nicolas for the big belt declaring them the Aruba Wrestling Bash Champion.

Commentary was provided by veteran promoter and WWE commissioner, Rev Steel. Visiting wrestling stars included Kevin Nash, who also contributed to organizing the event, along with local promoters. Joining him on the mat were Scott Steiner, Divas Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, Curacao wrestler Bas Kunder, who took quite a beating from Rhino during the final Sunday playoffs, and rising young star Scott Hall, who defeated feisty Chasyn Rance during the first match of the last night.

An unscheduled and impromptu rematch between Kevin Hall, who had suffered defeat on Saturday to Krimson, demonstrated the bigger man was still the better. Gracing the Caribbean Bash were also Hall of Famers “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, in full Scottish regalia, and Jerry “The King” Lawler, who only fought with words and wit, providing entertainment for all. Local promoters Jonathan Tromp and Howard Ian Lejuez report they were proud to bring live, world class wrestling back to Aruba after 20 years.

Ten-time World Tag Team champion Billy Gunn defeated Scott Steiner to take the Aruba title; and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman claimed the Caribbean Champion Belt.

The excitement, drama and comedy of live wrestling livened up Aruba last weekend; promoters promised it will be the first of many such tournaments, as the “The Legends” Caribbean Tour plans to make Aruba their base of operations for the region.
