Japan is celebrating its Children’s Day on May 5th; the country focuses on happiness for the nation’s children and of course it is a day filled with fun and games. Riding on Japan’s coat tails, Benihana Restaurant will jump into this year’s celebrations with a coloring contest for all children of 12 years old and under. The popular restaurant is going to donate $ 1.—for every drawing or painting that is handed in before May 5 to the Clown Doctors foundation. On May 6th one lucky winner of the Children Helping Children Contest will be selected: he or she wins dinner for eight persons! On May 5th, Children’s Day, all children will receive a special Benihana sushi dessert for free.
During a press conference held on Thursday, March 29, Benihana’s Morris Figaroa explained that the contest is a nice way to support the Clown Doctors of Aruba. Clowns visit the children’s ward of the Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital on a weekly basis to alleviate anxiety, stress and boredom; the clowns also dole out happiness at Maris Stella, the home for the elderly, and at the school for mentally challenged kids. Clown Groovy added to his speech that the Clown Doctors are very grateful for the spontaneous gesture of Benihana’s and that the foundation greatly appreciates every donation it gets. Groovy said that the clowns are paid for their work to guarantee continuity and to cover cost.
During the month of April Benihana offers a Chef’s Special, which consists of Hibachi Shrimp and Chicken for Two for the amazing price of $ 39.–. Diners can share two hibachi shrimp and chicken entrees served with Benihana onion soup, salad, mushrooms, hibachi vegetables, home-made dipping sauces, seamed rice and Japanese green tea, a great promotion which will surely attract the many campers during Semana Santa. The Chef’s Special starts this Sunday. Members of the press were already treated to the delicious special, which can also be ordered for lunch.
