Last Wednesday in a press conference with Minister Otmar Oduber, Frans Ponson representing the International 3G Racing Organization and Rafael Wever of Tropicana Resort & Casino shared information about the upcoming international racing to begin today.

This is the second time that the government of Aruba is supporting this activity. The activity is considered both a sport event as well as a tourism endeavor. The decision to endorse this event is based on the tremendous success of last year, and it promises to be even bigger this year, according to the government. In less than two years the organization has grown and the exposure of Aruba is immense. Aruba receives tremendous exposure not only because of the cars, but especially because of the races. The races are covered in important magazines worldwide.

One day before Aruba’s Betico Day celebrations, the 4 days of drag racing begins. A large number of international visitors will arrive here for this drag racing event. According to the Insel Airline, a large number of people are coming to Aruba from Puerto Rico, the USA, Venezuela and Curacao, among others.

It is expected that the great Don Omar, famous International racer, will be participating with his car and that he will do a special presentation as well. According to the government, this certainly adds added value to this drag racing event.

It is certain that the 3G Group is doing a phenomenal job of promoting Aruba with their Aruba automobile. The government has realized that many Arubans are contributing and helping us in the process of our branding internationally through various means. This event is certainly one of those means.
Frans Ponson reported that because of the magnitude of the event they need a much larger group to help them. Also, that the international media interested in covering the event has grown considerably. There are currently 6 US magazines that have confirmed their presence at the event. Other media expected are from Puerto Rico, Curacao, St. Maarten and Chile, with Brazil still pending.
Much to the delight of Frans Ponson, he has learned that Don Omar has also promoted the Aruba event internationally. In a recent concert, Omar invited all the participants to shout the name of Aruba. According to Frans Ponson, it appears that Don Omar is so happy that he is coming to race in Aruba that he is doing his own promotion and has offered to do an extra show during the event. Everyone of his team, including his mechanics, is all excited about coming to Aruba. Don Omar’s show in Aruba is expected to be one of a kind!
