Aruba reached out to YMCA Afl 80,000 raised in four hours!

YMCA of Aruba this year introduced a way of raising funds. Adding a special twist to the standard telethon/radiothon, the organization ran an “internet-thon,” and invited well known members of the community, as well as radio/television and business personalities, to drop in at their new center in Dakota to phone their friends and acquaintances requesting their contributions.

The initiative proved a big hit, with 26 personalities dedicating their time and efforts to raising funds for the valuable organization, with an outcome of Afl 80.000 added to the organization’s bank account Friday evening in a mere 4 hours.

The kind cooperation of the 26 volunteers; Setar N.V., Aruba’s full service telecommunications company, Digicel, cellular phone services provider, and local media outlets ATV channel 15, Radio Galactica 99.9, Magic 96.5, VideoAruba.com and coolAruba.com truly paid off.
Praise and the words of gratitude are also extended by YMCA of Aruba to all volunteers, staff and personnel of YMCA, as well as to the YMCA Dance group, Abada Capoeira, Sticks, Keys & Strings bands by IQ of Ivan Quandus, Steelpan player Nico Connor, Reload and Grupo di Betico, who kept the crowds entertained.

The work f the YMCA of Aruba is never ending so is their need for funds to run valuable, quality-of-life improving, community projects and programs out of mainly their centers in Dakota and San Nicholas.
