Doggies ruled in Palm Beach on Tuesday evening, March 1, as the Cas Animal Foundation, a refuge for stray dogs and cats with a strict no-kill policy, conducted its fundraising Carnival Pawrade ending in Palm Reach Plaza for the selection of a Carnival Queen and Prins & Pancho in both large and small breed categories.
Judges Farida Luidens of Checkpoint Color and Andreina Contreras of the Contreras Veterinary Clinic in Shaba had a tough time choosing between the entrants. Adorably garbed in festive carnival dress, some remarkably elaborate and authentic.
Dulce the poodle was a surefire winner for Carnival Queen, Small Dog Division, but Joy the Great Dane proved you could be huge, extremely feminine, and maintain your dignity while forced to wear ‘vibrantly hued feathers, winning her the large Dog crown.
Taking the titles in the Small Dog Category were pugs Prins Jans and Pancho Clown; Large Dog winners were Prins Tito & Pancho Scooby, a fine example of Aruba’s handsome Cunucu dogs.

A beautifully bumblebee costumed Chihuahua won best costume. All the winners received lovely crowns crafted and donated by Soraida. Kiki Arndt, founder of Cas Animal and its single, hardworking volunteer, expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the judges and Claudie Wegdam, who was a wonderfully animated MC.
She also thanks Compra NV for donating the bags of Beneful dog food, which was awarded as prizes; Palm Beach Plaza for generously hosting the event, Jessy of Contreras for her kind assistance at all times, the Red Cross, FPNC, IDEFRE and Balahsi Beer of Aruba, Who donated the souvenir tee shirts.
All Winners gave thanks when crowned with a resounding Rowf!
