Aqua Grill Aruba staff hones their wine knowledge with Pepia Est

DSC05505.JPGThe servers and bartenders of Aqua Grill restaurant in Palm Beach attended an eight-week wine course with Pepia Est, under the expert guidance of wine connoisseur Michael van den Berg. The staff of the island’s critically-praised seafood restaurant increased their knowledge of pairing seafood cuisine wine through practical smell and taste methods. The seminars also led the group through the exploration of main wine making countries.

At the end of the eight weeks, a test was given to the staff, with top performer Yovanny Portes scoring 100% when pairing grape varieties in a blind tasting, choosing a double magnum Chateau Ste Michelle Canoe Ridge Merlot and a bottle of Inniskilin Eiswein Gold. All attendees received their certificate from Michael van den Berg at Aqua Grill this past week, and from today are basic wine connoisseurs that are excited to share their knowledge with the patrons of Aqua Grill.

Aqua Grill has been awarded the Wine Spectators’ Award of Excellence two years in a row, and boasts an impressive wine cellar of over 1000 bottles, with a selection from more than 100 different wines stored behind a fourteen-foot tall glass wine wall that doubles as part of the dynamic décor of the restaurant.
