One of island's most highly anticipated annual event, the Aruba Hi-Winds, is winding down after a never-ending beach party that comprises their weekend activities. This year, the endless parade of distractions added a 25 KM bike race on a specially constructed arena and a fashion show of Banana Moon bikinis in a preview of the upcoming Aruba In Style Fashion Week at the beginning of November. Undoubtedly, it was the sight of young ladies in stylish swimsuits that drew the greatest concentration of camera clicks.Audience response was enthusiastic, fueled by a generous consumption of cheaply priced Amstel Bright Beer, official sponsors of the event. The weekend featured fun activities for all ages, and included a sunset show of kitesurfing prowess by a number of the competing athletes.
The breathtaking sight of dozens of colorful sails on the horizon can be seen one last time as the Aruba Hi-Winds conducts the final slalom races along the Palm Beach Shore. The awards dinner took place at Le Bistro at the Paseo Herencia Shopping Mall in Palm Beach, where the winners in all categories and division will be announced and trophies and prizes presented.
