Art of Living Foundation, Aruba organizing a wonderful evening of ‘Music, Mind & Meditation with Scottish musician Mary Sommerville - Art of Living Foundation, Aruba is very fortunate and excited to bring to Aruba, Mary Somerville, a very talented harpist from Scotland, for an evening of Music, Mind and Meditation. Mary plays the Scottish harp and was brought up in the Scottish Highlands where there is a strong culture of traditional music.
Beginning her musical training at the age of five, she started playing the Scottish harp (known as the clarsach) at the age of nine. As a child Mary won many musical competitions and festivals with her harp performances as well as on the piano and violin. She is particularly known for playing relaxing, meditative music.
Mary is also a full time volunteer of the Art of Living Foundation, a non profit, humanitarian organization. With her aim to contribute towards the foundation’s goal of a violence free, stress free society, she travels worldwide organizing events and performing harp concerts.
She recently performed an instrumental piece with a local steel pan musician at the “I Meditate St. Maarten” Intercultural peace event in the Caribbean, which became the first ever known collaboration between the harp and the steel pan. She will also be performing in other Caribbean islands like Barbados and Jamaica.
Art of Living Foundation invites everyone in Aruba to join us for a relaxing evening filled with some breathtaking music, meditation and knowledge.
