A Dream Come True

The main street is introducing its trolley shortly. It’s on the island and will be offered free of charge to locals and visitors heading into the main shopping artery. The trolley just arrived here having been bought in Fort Lauderdale. The new arrival was introduced to the press then it headed into the Arubus Garage for fine tuning as the advertising stickers go up its sides. This is just one project, says Nancy Lemmer a volunteer on behalf of Mambo, the local merchant association.  Nancy, who works in the training department at the Horacio Oduber hospital also doubles up as the merchant association’s PR diva. She reports financing was a challenge but through creative year long campaigns the money was raised and the trolley will make the stores on main-street more accessible to shoppers. Stanley de Marchena, of Capricio, spearheaded the project and negotiations are in place with Arubus regarding the actual hours of operation. The trolley will meet riders in the parking lot behind the bus depot, then drive down Emanstraat, turn and return on Wilhelminastraat, hugging the shoo0ping district in a wide embrace, circulating all day, free of charge. The press took the first ride, they report it’s fun and effective  . . .
