The Official Mascot for the 56th Carnival Season |
The opening ceremony took place recently at Chino Latino at The Village. Carnival Season starts always on the 11 of the 11 month at the 11 hours and 11 minutes. Present on this occasion was SAC President Mrs. Tecla Kelly Hernandez who gave the opening speech, Minister of Culture Mrs. Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar who expresses the desire to perk up the relationship between the government and SAC. Also, present in this occasion was Minister of Tourism Mr. Otmar Oduber who in addition gave a small speech. Mr. Otmar Oduber has been very active in previous Carnival events and playing an important part concerning Carnival by leading and participating in the famous T.O.B. Carnival Group, which has enriched Aruba's Carnival to several notches and winning a couple of titles along the way. We hope, after acquiring several Ministerial titles, Oduber can still make sometime to participate if not he will be missed.
At exactly 11:11 AM Ruben Garcia, Master of Ceremonies, entered Chino Latino with the new jingle for this Carnival Season for the inauguration. Also SAC signed an agreement with Aruba Red Cross, and with this it will ensure some safety and precaution during the Carnival season events.
A party was held later in the evening at The Village with brassband music and Carnival costumes. Available that night was the Bacchanal magazine with history, info and a copy of Carnival schedule for 2010. Also present were several Carnival groups with stands where it was possible to enter your participation for the 2010 Carnival parades. The 2010 Carnival schedule can still be obtained at different outlets.
