Promoters of international drag racing on Aruba, 3G Racing, Land Aruba and Aruba Trading Company announced a momentous racing event to open the racing season, taking place January 24 through 28, 2012. Guaranteeing an historic event for Aruba will be the presence of mega-Reggaeton star Don Omar, himself a racing enthusiast, representing his native island of Puerto Rico with his team King of Kings and their car, Blue Zone.

Promoter and race car driver Frans Ponson described the event as “the biggest race of the year” with participation by teams from Aruba, the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Other famed competitors are:

  • G Force (Honda Prelude)
  • Cocoliso Racing (Celica)
  • El Estresico (Celica)
  • The Extreme Import winner of 2011: Lucimar (Rx7)
  • Aruba’s fastest Extreme Import car: Hailey (Rx7)

Other local imports registered participants include Super Scion, Good2 Starlet, Franse Pass Connection Corolla, Danny Turbo and a new Nightmare RX-8.

Five days dedicated to hot cars will begin on January 24th with a Test and Tune session, followed by the opening event: a concert with popular local bands featuring a performance by Don Omar.
Tuesday, January 25th, there will be a car show at the Palomarga Raceway; spectacular muscle cars and their drivers will be on display to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures, including Don Omar.
There will be entertainment by local bands as well and entrance is free.
The last three days of the event will be “pure racing excitement at Palomarga,” stated Frans, “last year it was the biggest racing event on Aruba, and this year will be even bigger and better.”
Sponsors for the week are General Store, Tropicana Aruba Resort, quick Electrical Services, Aruba Trading Company with Presidente Beer and Label 5, Diario, Vicari Trading, Trendy Home Builder, Smart Systems, Go Fast Sports and Valvoline. Tickets can be purchased for the opening night at their retail outlets.
