The official opening of the chic and affordable 14 Bis at the Reina Beatrix International Airport in Aruba has made departing early for a flight a very attractive proposition for travelers. The masterminds behind this charming new dining spot, veteran restaurateurs Stefen Leggers and Sander van Kints, welcomed Aruba’s Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Otmar Oduber along with AAA CEO Peter Steinmentz to perform the ribbon cutting on their official opening.
Stefan and Sander are well known for other highly successful culinary partnerships, and it looks like they will be able to carve another notch for the innovative 14 Bis. The name is derived from the first European flight of a fixed wing aircraft, the 14-bis, on October 23, 1906 by the aristocratic Brazilian inventor/adventurer, Albert Santos Dumont, whose visage is the logo of the new restaurant. A model of his plane is a striking centerpiece to the interior décor.
Open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM seven days a week, the menu sports a fresh, healthy and diverse selection of soups, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, sushi, plus omelet and pasta stations, where your meal is prepared before your eyes. 14 Bis deploys a free-flowing, self service style for fast in-and-out, or patrons can linger and take advantage of the wi-fi hotspot, without charge.
Chefs Gilbert and Jose provided samples of their tempting dishes such as Pasta Carbonara with Chicken, Grouper Teriyaki with vegetables, which barely scratches the surface. Customers can also express their seasoning preferences and any dietary issues as they prepare your order.
Very affordably priced, the new eatery is not your typical airport fare, and the intention is for it to be a stand alone restaurant, with clients provided free parking in the airport lot.
