The McGoldricks came on vacation in Aruba with their two kids, ages 16 & 12, in 2004. They stayed at the Radisson Aruba Resort & Casino where they enjoyed the hospitality of Mathilde Clemente and Germaine Wever, the queen and princess of the resort's Guest Service department. The McGoldricks were no ordinary guests, however. They were best-seller authors, on a mission to research Aruba as the backdrop for their next suspense-thriller, once called Aruba Breezes, now published by Avon Books as Tropical Kiss.
The literary duo collaborated on the book for publisher Harper Collins, and it was released in May, 2005, by Harper Teens. It was just received in the mail, in Aruba and both Mathilde and Germaine received a signed, personalized dedication in their book copy. Having collaborated on 21 books during the past 24 years of marriage, Nikoo McGoldrick, a mechanical engineer, and James McGoldrick, a professor of English with a Ph.D. in sixteenth-century British literature, manage to successfully collaborate in life as well as in literature.
Their latest offering, Tropical kiss even includes some Papiamento Lessons, including Sunchi, kiss, and Mi ta stima Aruba, I love Aruba. The nom de plume picked by the successful duo for the novel is Jan Coffey, and it can be purchased on line.
When writing under the name May McGoldrick, the McGoldricks produce historical novels for Penguin Putnam, and Young Adult Highland romance for HarperCollins/Avon. When writing under the name of Jan Coffey, they produce contemporary suspense thrillers for MIRA. Under their own names, they are the authors of the nonfiction work, Marriage of Minds: Collaborative Fiction Writing.
The McGoldricks presently live in Litchfield County, CT., and promised to return to celebrate the publication of their book with their local friends Mathilde & Germaine. The book targets young adults. It depicts the experiences of a teen age American beauty, visiting the father she never knew on the island of Aruba, expecting hell and finding heaven while resolving an international intrigue.
