Eagle Beach.-- Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa celebrates this week the re-certification for Green Globe 21 Standards. The continuous efforts of staff and management to fulfill the company’s vision and promise to preserve a safe and healthy environment for the island of Aruba, its people and visiting guests, is surely showing great results.
Peter Hackett, AJA Registrars, conducted the certification audit and complimented the staff by stating they have done an "Extremely good job."
"The resort’s mission is to abide by Green Globe 21 Company Standards, and abide by the laws, regulations and standards of Aruba," says Director of Operations Edgar Roelofs.
In addition to year-round activities, the Green Team assists the annual review of performance and aspires to improve annually, inching towards industry best practice levels. Wherever possible the resort purchases local products and services with minimal negative environmental impact . It also enforces the "3-R-Policy" to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle throughout the property to prevent and control pollution.
Green Globe 21 was born in 1994 at the World Travel & Tourism Council, WTTC, following the Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Green Globe introduces standards of environmental management aimed specifically at the travel and tourism industry. It now acts as an accreditation body assisting companies and partners in creating a global brand for sustainable travel and tourism. Based in the United Kingdom, it is recognized all over the world. Environmental tourism in one of the growth areas in the tourism industry, and in a haste to maximize this market, resorts must first make sure they protect and enhance the environment by embracing the Green Globe process.
