The Renaissance Convention Center threw an improvised French champagne, ice cream and cake party for Janien Huistra, its dynamic director, in honor of a special award. Janien's colleagues at the resort and the convention center got wind that their super efficient leader received a coveted distinction, that of Events Management Leader Of The Year/Franchise Partnership Renaissance brand, and impromptu staged a surprise party to celebrate the achievement.
The nomination, and later the award confirmed what Janien's colleagues knew all along, the blonde Dutch-born event organizer is a super woman. Smith Steak & Chop House, and the entire kitchen and service crew from the busy, always-booked, convention center, at the party.
Janien has been on the island for 18th months. Under her leadership the convention center hosted many important groups, maintaining a very high level of guest and client satisfaction. That attention to detail secured the Chairman Circle, arriving here in April of 2006, consisting of more than 500 accomplished Marriott executives. While this year's mix of celebration and relaxation takes place on Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa, next year's edition will be entrusted to Janien and her crew who are planning to put their best foot forward in honor of the visiting VIPs.
Judging from the incredulous expression on Janien's face, the party and the award were indeed a surprise. Later, in her a la Oscar acceptance speech Janien thanked her team for their hard work and credited them with her success.
