Tony & Bon Cushina debut on ATV

Raised in Aruba on a tradition of good home-cooking and elegant home entertainment Tony Rangel is not your typical TV cooking chef. Nonetheless, Sunday, April 3rd, on ATV, channel 15, the debut of Bon Cushina will air starring Tony & Josefina. The new cooking show series was filmed at the home of Tony & Lydia Rangel, in their actual exhibition style kitchen in front of a live audience of family members and friends.
Tony reports he wanted to reinvent himself, do something creative, he said, when Lydia, his wife of many years suggested cooking on TV. A Bon Vivant and a Foodie at heart Tony immediately started looking for potential sponsors and was surprised at the market's positive response.

The idea he says, is to bring people back into their kitchens. Cooking he adds, is creative, relaxing and a great social catalyst. People who eat together, have open lines of communications. They take time to enjoy each other's company and share with friends, which is nowadays an almost lost tradition.
In a world marked by the lack of time, Tony is out to turn back the clock and invite people to cook for their family members and friends, home-recipes made easy.

Josefina is Tony's helper, she's been with the Rangel family for nine years. The interaction between Tony & Josefina is part of the show's entertainment factor.
In a pre-show interview Tony reports he is directing his culinary message to young, married professionals, who have a house, one or two kids and a good life-style on two salaries. Naturally, Tony states, with mortgage and car payments, they cannot afford to dine out often. In teaching them classic recipes Tony hopes to encourage them to explore culinary avenues, shopping, cooking and having fun with food.

Four shows have already been taped. The first starring a Roast Prime Rib of Beef, served at the Sunset Grille, Radisson Aruba Resort & Casino and effective April 4th it could also be served in every home on the island. The second show wakes up the senses with Grouper Francaise - Valentino's has a good one, Tony remarks; the third show features a simple version of a French delicacy, Coq au Vin, laced with some poetry by cousin Ruth Vrieswijk. The Fourth show delivers Penne Pomodoro, only in Tony's case he is improvising making it into Rigatoni a la Tony!
Professionally produced by Rebecca Roos and shot by Jado Maduro of Pro-Video the show will deliver an exciting, spontaneous TV product. Thank you Gerda Bonsie at Happy Hair. The show airs Sunday at 7:30 p.m., and repeats the following week, on Sunday afternoon. For correspondence and special requests please write to: Cuisine Guru, Bon Cushina P.O.
