De Palm awards the Numismatic Museum a gift

The Numismatic Museum, on Weststraat, just behind the central bust station is celebrating its 29th year. Founded by the late Juan Mario Odor the family collection of coins is now on display at the museum, a turn of the century restored cunucu house. It is a charming place to visit and learn about the island's economy and history from its discovery in the late 15th century to present days. On the occasion of the anniversary celebration Valerie Camacho, Marketing & PR Director of De Palm Tours offered to buy the museum a gift.

Curator Desiree Croes was fast to respond with a wish-list out of which Valerie picked . . . a fax machine to directly drive tour reservations and inquiries to the museum. De Palm Tours recently introduced a historic walking tour of Oranjestad which includes a visit to the money museum. During the next few weeks Desiree reports, the museum will be open on Sunday to allow locals to familiarize themselves with the extensive collection. Tourists who wish to visit may just drop in or call for more information, Tel: 582-8831 or 965-6969. The museum, explains Valerie, is part of the island's cultural heritage. Since it is run by a non profit foundation gifts make it possible for the collection to be on display. Perhaps other companies will be inspired by the example set by De Palm Tours and place the Numismatic Museum on their Christmas gift list.
