The volunteers of ARA, Animal Rights Aruba, participated in the Arawak Food Festival, selling tee-shirts, buttons and Frisbees, also handing out pamphlets about the organization and listening to visitors' comments and feedback. ARA reports that this year was a very successful one, as the current board accomplished considerable landmarks which will ensure the sustainability of the organization in the years to come. Among ARA's highlight this year, community networking. A good relationship has been established with the Police Department, in particular with the Bario Regisseurs, the neighborhood coordinators, to address challenges regarding animal welfare within their communities.
ARA is at present also working to get Scouting Aruba involved in its activities to assist in the education and follow up on a grass root level. Education in the community is the key and ARA’s board feels that together with Scouting Aruba attitudes will change, especially among kids. ARA also needs more members to support its programs, and would like to sign up at least 1000 supporters.
