ARUBA GOES HOLLYWOOD THIS NOVEMBER !

The Island Where Happiness Lives Gears Up For A Week Of Celeb-Packed Celebrations Including a Star-Studded Concert and a Big League Softball Game.

From Grammy-winning Latin rock stars to Major League Baseball players, the first week in November on Aruba is truly a star-studded seven days boasting a bevy of A-listers visiting the island!  Aruba, where happiness lives, is gearing up to host an impressive roster of celebrity singers and All-Star baseball players for two unforgettable charitable events including the first-ever Celebrity Concert on November 1 and the second annual Celebrities Softball Game on November 8, both being staged at Don Elias Mansur Ballpark in Oranjestad.

The first-ever Celebrity Concert offers up some of the hottest pop sensations on the Latin music scene, including triple Latin Grammy-winning sensation Olga TaƱon and Los Rabanes.  This inaugural concert will also play host to a number of well-known local acts like the Olarte Bros & Friends and Sound & More.  Tickets to this musical extravaganza will be available in advance for $20 and $25 at the door.  All proceeds will go to the Celebrity Foundation Aruba, which works to give gifts to children in need through various churches on island. A host of Major League Baseball players, including All-Stars such as Vicente Padilla (Philadelphia Phillies), Andruw Jones (Atlanta Braves), Maglia Ordonez (Chicago White Sox), will step up to the plate for the Sidney Ponson and Calvin Maduro Celebrities Softball Game 2003 on November 8.

The second-annual Celebrities Softball Game is sure to boast non-stop action and hopes to be as much of a success as last year's game which raised over $10,000 for the Boys and Girl's Club.  These Major Leaguers will come up to bat against Aruba's very own softball team.  Aruban-born Sidney Ponson (San Francisco Giants) and Calvin Maduro (Baltimore Orioles), along with Joselito Alberts, started this event to raise funds for Aruba's "Cas pa Hubentud" (Home For Youth) Foundation, which provides a caring home for underprivileged children starting at age twelve.  The directors of the event, Ponson, Maduro and Eugene Kingsale (an Aruban native who plays for the San Diego Padres) hope that the annual event will continue to gain popularity.

Tickets for the Celebrities Softball Game will be sold at the stadium gate for $7.00 (adults) and $3.00 (children). "Aruba is proud to see local talent, such as Sidney Ponson, Calvin Maduro and Andruw Jones succeed in major league baseball.  Aruba is also thrilled to be hosting the first-ever Celebrity Concert and the second annual Celebrities Softball Game.  We are excited that the two star-studded events will benefit two very important on island charities," said Edison Briesen, Aruba's Minister of Tourism and Transportation.  "With a line-up of the brightest Latin music stars, as well as a number of outstanding athletes from the Major League, we anticipate both celebrity events to be a big hit for both our visitors and locals alike.
