CSJF Founder Erik Eman was joined by festival organizers Patrick Melchior, Mark Benson Denz, and Vicki Arends along with representatives from sponsors at Fusion Lounge to announce the confirmed line up for this year’s event.
The Cas di Cultura in Oranjestad and the surrounding streets will once again be turned into the CSJF Plaza for the Columbus Day weekend, Friday and Saturday evenings, October 5 & 6. They were proud to announce a stellar line up featuring Chaka Khan, Oscar D'Leon, Randy Brecker, Sven Hammond Soul, Fourplay, Kuenta y Tambu, Pete Philly, Frankie Yanga Trio, Diverse Sauzen, Reno Steba & Mike del Ferro, Upgrade Music, Rooster Farm Ft. Roger Peterson, Live X-pressions.
Musical performances under the stars begin at 6:30 PM nightly on any of three stages, continuing until 1:30 AM. Prior to the weekend there will be free warm up concerts all week long, beginning on Monday, October 1 at Hadicurari Pier, with Live X-pressions. Tuesday it will be the SMRW Jazz Band led by Johnny Croes at Arawak Gardens; both events begin at 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening will feature Kuenta I Tambu at MooMba Beach Bar beginning at 9:00 PM, and the final free concert will be at Café the Plaza in Oranjestad featuring Sven Hammond Soul and a surprise performance. The show will begin at 7:30PM. The great mood of the festival will continue until nearly dawn during after parties at Barefoot by Nikky Beach and Fusion Piano and Wine Bar in the Alhambra Shopping Mall.
Tickets are now on sale for CSJF 2012 at Cliffix, Moomba, Fun Miles, Superfood, CD’s & More, De Palm Tours, Pelican Tours, Plaza Book Store and Purple Entertainment group. Superfood has a special promotion to win tickets to the festival.
The weekend is a feast for the senses. There will be original fine art on exhibit and sale, a collection of gourmet restaurants offering bargain priced treats in the food court, and this year, Arion Wine will provide some fine vintages to complete the overall package for those that appreciate the finer things in life. Program coordinators have also made 1000 special priced tickets available for students through the schools, to introduce them to quality interpretive music.
