Ling & Sons IGA and Quaker recently organized a fun Hike in our beautiful Arikok National Park. The Hike was the first IGA Caribbean Healthy challenge event this year. Participants arrived in the early morning at Ling & Sons IGA to take the free bus to Arikok. The Hike started at 7a.m. where all participants received their Ling & Sons backpack and were guided by the Arikok rangers in to the park. The Arikok rangers gave all participants a great lesson about our rich culture and nature. They emphasized the importance of taking care of our beautiful National Park.
The hike which was one hour and a half long guided participants to the Cunucu Arikok where the Cas di torta (mud house) stands. The rangers explained how these old type Aruban style houses were build. Needless to say this Hike was a fun and fruitful day full of lessons for all participants. At the finish line members of the Thrill Walkers Club who also guided the Hike handed out fresh apples, refreshments and the new delicious Quaker rice cakes to everyone.
