Fishes and More spices up their menu

februari2012-003_web.jpgFishes & More restaurant in the Arawak Garden has an amazingly large group of fans: locals and visitors who regularly come to dinner to enjoy its wonderfully tasty dishes, sizeable portions and good service. Now, the restaurant is proud to introduce its revamped menu, clad in a colorful new coat with new, intriguing additions to its long-time favorites. Doesn’t your mouth water with the thought of a lobster tail wrapped in grouper and a dill sauce or a juicy filet mignon with gorgonzola cheese? The shrimp casserole with Hollandaise sauce, mushrooms and Parmesan cheese can already be written up as a true hit and the new menu is only a few weeks old! And a dessert like the Key Lime Pie with vanilla ice cream, strawberry syrup and a shot of Amaretto is an instant favorite as well.

“The new presentation adds to the fresh look of the dishes and guests love to try them out,’’ says owner Jeroen Kuling, who opened the restaurant nine years ago together with his friend Hans Heijink. Among many other things, it’s Hans who still rules the bar at Fishes & More. Jeroen can always be found welcoming guests and greeting regulars on the terrace and pitching in where needed.

Back to the menu, which sports two exquisite additions: the spicy shrimp and the Caribbean Fish Soup, which is a clear bouillon filled with grouper, snapper, mahi mahi, shrimps, calamari and mussels, prepared à la minute by chef Dennis Johannes Zegelink. Chef Dennis hails from Winterswijk, Holland. Nine years ago he was a trainee in the kitchen of Fishes & More; three years ago, after getting international experience in England, Germany and Holland, he moved back to his favorite restaurant on Aruba, where he has been cooking up a storm ever since.

Its weekly changing cocktail special and a wine special, which offers an excellent bottle of wine for an unbeatable price plus its popular Early Bird 3-course dinner for $ 22.75 (between 4 and 6.30 pm) make Fishes & More into a `must-go’ restaurant during a vacation.
