Ling and Sons IGA is proud to have been part of the local Christmas TV show “ e regalo” (the “gift”) with its own weekly segments called “Aruchic” where Ling and Sons had the opportunity to give back in a big way to our community by making a donation each week to an important non profit organization that has worked very hard throughout the year to support our community.
Our first donation was made to the Church St. Anna in Noord which received a check for 5.000 AWG (US $ 2825,-) to help them rebuild the church that was devastated by a tornado earlier this year.
The second donation of 3.000 AWG was made to the organization “ Hende muher den dificultad” (Women in difficulty”). This organization has been growing throughout the years because of their great efforts to help woman in Aruba that have no where else to go when they find themselves in financial difficulty, violence at home etc. With this donation the organization is sure to continue working as hard if not harder to help women in Aruba.
The third donation was made to Centro Kibrahacha. Centro Kibrahacha is an organization which helps the elderly In Aruba to stay healthy and active. Centro kibrahacha received 3.000 AWG from Ling and Sons IGA and hope to continue pushing the elderly to stay fit and active to enjoy the beautiful years they have ahead. Aside from all the great organizations mentioned above, Ling and Sons IGA could not forget about the YMCA youth club in San Nicolas. The youth club pushes the children to stay active in sports and away from bad influences giving the youth of Aruba a chance of having a great future! For there incredible work helping the Youth of Aruba, Ling and Sons donated 3.000 AWG to YMCA.
During the filming of the show live from the store, Ling and Sons had a surprise donation in store which went to the Children’s home Imeldahof Aruba. The donation of 3.000 AWG was received by Natalia who works with the children who explained that the donation would go to rebuilding the play ground of the children’s home and premises.
The last donation was saved for the people who have been taking care of others their whole live and are now receiving great care from the people at the elderly home S.A.B.A (Maristella).
The Ling and Sons IGA team visited the elderly home Maristella down in Savaneta to give a special donation of 3.000 AWG to the elderly home. The Donation was received with gratitude by the Mrs. Koeiman who explained that the elderly home would be celebrating their 40th year of existence in 2012 and they appreciate being thought of for the donation. During the show Mrs. Koeiman who has been working at the elderly home for over 30 years invited the community of Aruba to celebrate with them their 40 years of existence.
Ling and Sons IGA, #1 supermarket had the joy of sharing with everyone how great it is to give back to the community. With the segment “Aruchic” Ling and Sons IGA proved once again to be making a difference in the community! And it is with this same spirit that Ling and Sons IGA is inviting everyone to support the youth group Rotaract Club Aruba with their unique project called Un pami, un pe (One for me, one for him/her) where they ask for a donation in the form of products to make Christmas baskets with to donate to the less fortunate families in Aruba. The Rotaract Club has had the full support of Ling and Sons IGA since they started this project in early December and have had great reaction from the customers at Ling and Sons IGA.
