The Julius Leeft! Foundation (Julius Lives!) brings the musical about Prince Claus to Aruba. Claus von Amsberg, deceased in 2002, was the husband of Queen Beatrix and Prince of the Netherlands. As part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Prince Claus was an important part of our heritage and therefore Aruba is proud to welcome the cast, crew and production of theater show Claus.
After the successful one time show in Royal Theatre Carré, the Netherlands, the Julius Leeft! Foundation decided to bring the show about the remarkable prince to Aruba. The Dutch cast and crew, combined with local talents will perform from July 18th till July 20th.
John Leerdam, initiator of the Julius Leeft! Foundation and director of theater show Claus created the show in 2009. The cast included politicians, celebrities and professional artists. Queen Beatrix and her son Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were present at this première.
The show depicts the life of Prince Claus, but also narrates about humanity, hope, disappointments and the search for love. The story is about the prince’s relationship with Africa, the Dutch Antilles and Suriname and indeed about his relationship with Queen Beatrix.
Aruba invited the Dutch cast and crew to join as part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Aruba's Status Aparte. In addition to the theater show, the Julius Leeft! Foundation is also organizing a benefit concert. The main aim of the concert is to raise money for projects which educate the youth on culture.
