Carubbian Festival ready to light up San NicolasMinisters Otmar Oduber and Mike de Meza officially announced recently that the first edition of the Carubbian Festival is scheduled for June 9th in San Nicolas! Members of the Carubbian Foundation, Antoni Garrio, Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of ATA and representative of the minister of social affairs Alice van Romondt were present for this important announcement.
For the past 7 months the Foundation has been working diligently on this festival to be able to offer a high caliber program. Minister Oduber remarked that this festival is extremely important in view of the emphasis placed on the government’s tourism vision and the ‘Producto Aruba’ platform.
Producto Aruba is not only the beautification of the different areas of the island, but also Aruba’s intent on providing quality service and to ensure that we offer what the tourist wants and to even surpass the expectation of our visitors.
This festival must become the second most important festival for Aruba, with all due respect for the Bon Bini festival held weekly in Oranjestad, according to Oduber.
This festival, according to the Minister of Tourism, will afford our visitors an opportunity to learn something of our culture and history, and at the same time enable them to visit the other part of the island to stimulate the needed development there. Special tents replete with the logo and branding of Carubbian Festival have been designed along with an extensive marketing plan to provide a festival of top caliber for San Nicolas.
San Nicolas is the ‘barrio’ where 60 to 70 years ago more than 47 different nationalities came together to live and eventually remained ever since. Hence, it is the intention to bring our visitors to this end of the island so they can see and experience some of its culture and history, and to make San Nicolas another important attraction for our tourists.
A special booth will be placed at the airport dedicated to providing information and flyers about the Carubbian Festival for all arriving visitors. Visitors will be able to purchase their San Nicolas package at different tour operators. Oduber was grateful for the funds made available for this venture. He expressed gratitude for all who contributed in making it a reality.
