VisitAruba is proud to announce the winners of our Aruba Quiz. To participate in the quiz participants had to send us the correct answers to each Aruba question. And the winners are:

Winner Question #1: Dorothy Meany. Dorothy wins a breakfast for two at La Vista restaurant located in Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino. The correct answer to the question ‘Who's statue is depicted on the altar of the Alto Vista Chapel?’ is Virgin Mary. The Alto Vista Chapel is said to be the first church established in Aruba. This first church was built with stone walls and a straw roof. It was dedicated to Mother St. Mary, the “Mother of the Rosary” and hence considered exceptional in Aruba.

Winner Question #2: Calista Genser-Werleman. Calista wins a Banana Bus Barhopping tour for two for sending us the correct answer to question number 2, ‘what is the name of the song and who is the performer?’ The correct answer is Claudius Phillips with Waye Waye. Waye Waye was the Roadmarch contest winner of Aruba's carnival for 2011.

Winner Question #3: Jeff Martineau. Jeff wins an Aruba Kayak tour for two. The correct answer to the question ‘what is the local name for the Crotalus Unicolor?’ is Cascabel. However, since the question did not specify that it had to be in Papiamento, we also approved the commonly used Aruba Rattlesnake.

Winner Question #4: Bart Beltman. Bart wins a gift certificate of US $50 for Matthews beachside restaurant. Bart sent us the correct answer to question number 4 ‘Which floating building is depicted here?’. This was the Bali restaurant. The Bali restaurant used to be a unique floating Indonesian bar/restaurant that used to be moored right in front of where now the Renaissance Resort is located. The barge portion of the restaurant was sunk and is now become a popular dive site.

Winner Question #5: Shelly Tinker. Shelly wins a Discover Aruba tour by de Palm Tours for sending us the correct answer to question number 5 ‘Which building is depicted and when was it completed?’. The picture is of Fort Zoutman, which is a military fortification at Oranjestad, Aruba. Built in 1798 by the Dutch army, it is the oldest structure on the island of Aruba. The Willem III Tower was added to the west side of the fort in 1868. The fort and tower were restored and re-opened in 1983 as the Historical Museum of Aruba.
